Eat Real.

Who wants to go to Oakland? Not me. Yes, it’s in the process of being gentrified, and I’d much rather be amongst the former residents on the fringe of Oakland than hipsters and yuppies. Nonetheless, something else is pulling me into Oakland the last weekend of August, and it’s the 2nd annual Eat Real Festival!

This year’s festival will take place in Oakland’s historic Jack London Square, where sustainable and affordable food will be celebrated by all walks of life. Friday kicks off with a quiet day of deejays and a countless list of food trucks that include: Adobohobo, Chairman Bao, Curry Up Now and Kara’s Cupcakes. Saturday will be a full out brawl of the same food vendors, but with music by Beat Beat Whisper! Beat beat and a brawl? Count me in and give me a black eye to brag about.
