Hurricane Maria Fundraiser, American River College, 2017

In 2017 I was invited to return to my alma mater, American River College, to create a Puerto Rican menu and run the kitchen to raise funds for Hurricane Maria relief efforts.

Because the Oak Cafe has a menu template (every week they offer a three course menu with an app, entree and dessert. But, they also offer a pizza and burger option), I had to create a Puerto Rican inspired pizza and hamburger. The pizza was a play on cornbeef and rice, I used cornbeef, tomato sauce and an over medium egg. The burger was a play on a tripleta, a sandwich that usually has three different meats. The burger had the patty, sliced ham and bacon.
